Edo Community Appeals To Gov Obaseki For Speedy Completion Of Road Projects

BY MIKE OSAROGIAGBON

Ugbineh Community in Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State has joined its neighbors in Upper Ekehuan road to appeal to governor Godwin Obaseki to hasten the ongoing reconstruction of Upper Ekehuan road project.

The Community while commending Mr. Godwin Obaseki-led Edo State government for adding value to the lives of Edo residents through execution of meaningful projects across the state, expressed confidence that socio-economic activities would bounce back in the area when the road project is completed in real time.

The youths leader (Okaighele) of Ugbineh Community Comrade Dominic Edobor and his secretary Mr. Ernest Erhabor made the appeal in Benin City, last Friday.

Comrade Edobor stated that the deplorable condition of the Upper Ekehuan-Gelegele road has negatively affected economic, social and infrastructure developments in all the villages in the area.

“As I speak with you, CSDP World bank facilitated and EDSOPADEC projects influenced by Edo State government is going on in my community.

“The construction of a modern police station started during Comrade Oshiomhole’s administration has been completed by Mr. Obaseki in Ugbineh Community.

“The problem we are facing now is that we cannot access our community, even when all those projects are completed. From Benin to Ugbineh that used to take 25 minutes now take more than three hours. We now rely on commercial motorcycles as the only means of transportation on that axis.

Comrade Edobor also appealed to governor Obaseki to consider possibly palliative work on Ido-Gelegele road as stopping the reconstruction of the Upper Ekehuan road at army barracks in Ekehuan village would not wholly address the road challenge.

“Farmers cannot convey their products to markets outside the community, healthcare and security in the area have been badly affected, in fact, the suffering is too much.

“We are begging him. When he came during campaign, he promised to fix the road from Benin City to Gelegele”, The Okaighele appealed.

Comrade Dominic Edobor however listed the ongoing rehabilitation of electricity to Ugbineh Community and some others waiting to be unveiled as his projects towards achieving the mandate given to him by the current Odionwere, Pa. Jackson Usiobafo Osayande and his Council of Elders.

He thanked his executive, youths, women and elders of Ugbineh Community both at home and in diaspora for their immense supports and encouragement.
