Justice Okungbowa Confirmed As Edo State Chief Judge

Edo State House of Assembly has confirmed Justice Daniels Iyobosa Okungbowa as the Chief Judge (CJ) of the State.

House Speaker Rt Hon. Blessing Agbebaku delivered the Confirmation on Wednesday, at the hallowed chambers, after receiving a report submitted by the Chairman of the joint committee on Rules and Business alongside that of Judiciary and human rights, Hon Charity Aiguobarueghian, clearing him for an onward swearing-in.

Speaking while confirming Justice Okungbowa, the speaker described him as a humble man, capable of transforming the judiciary system in the State.

Responding, Justice Daniels Iyobosa Okungbowa hailed the impact of Governor Godwin Obasiki on the Judiciary operations in the state,

He pledged to leverage technology as the world now evolves on Technology impute to drive formidable governance adding that the state Judiciary system is prepared to keep up to speed and cannot be left behind.

He, however, appealed to the lawmakers to improve on the appropriation to the judiciary to achieve its set goals.

Justice Okungbowa was appointed in an acting capacity on May 2023 by Governor Godwin Obaseki after

replacing Justice Joe Acha, who attained the mandatory years of retirement.
