Dismantle Obaseki’s Kangaroo House Of Assembly – LP Campaign Spokesman

Edo State voters have been called upon to use their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) during the governorship and House of Assembly Elections on Saturday March 11, 2023 to dismantle the Edo State House of Assembly, as it is presently constituted, under the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LP- PCC), Edo State, Comrade Igbotako Nowinta made the call in a press statement in Benin during the week.

He described as Governor Obaseki’s Kangaroo Assembly, the state legislature as it is currently constituted and that it must be democratically taken down for true representatives of the people.

Nowinta said that the good people of Edo State have had enough of “shameful rubber-stamping episodes so far with the present crop of politicians masquerading as lawmakers,” saying that the time has come for the good people of Edo State to give them electoral red card.

Nowinta further stated:

“It is unimaginable that because of parochial and egoistic battles between some political gladiators (within APC & PDP) in the state, that we have being forced to swallow and live with a charade called Edo State House of Assembly, operating from the kitchen close to Governor Obaseki’s quarters in Government House, Benin City.

“This terrible appendage to Governor Obaseki, and which represents the highest mockery of representative democracy should be put to an end on Saturday; this is the task that the good electorates should undertake uncompromisingly.

“Edo people should never allow those that tried desperately to pervert the course of peaceful and transparent elections on February 25th, 2023, to scare them from coming out enmass this coming Saturday, to massively vote for all Labour Party’s candidates in all the constituencies spread around Edo State.

“Those politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress trying frantically to do last minutes repair, to win back badly damaged public confidence with poisoned eleventh hour packages, must be rejected at the polls; a less than “12 member Edo Legislative House” that has so far served Governor Obaseki to the tilt, is not only a symptom of deepening threats to democracy, but a cruel aberration.

“In as much that the voters in Edo State must reenact the magic that gave Peter Obi a landslide victory on February 25th, 2023, then to prove our electoral superiority over these established political criminals, it is a fundamental duty for Edo voters to use their PVC to dismantle Governor Obaseki’s kangaroo House of Assembly on Saturday.”
