Benin City, Nigeria – Igueben Area Customary Court President, Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga and a former member of Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Festus Edughele have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Edo State.

Sources disclosed that the duo were separately abducted on Monday, January 9, 2023.

It was scooped that while the Area Customary Court President was waylaid in Ugoneki area on her way to Igueben Local Government Area, the gunmen attacked the ex-edo lawmaker on his way to Benin City.

The unfortunate incidents occurred after gunmen stormed a sub train station in Igueben and whisked away scores of passengers waiting to board a train to Warri in neighbouring Delta State on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

The Edo State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incidents at press time, today, Monday, January 9, 2023.

However, the Edo State government in synergy with all security agencies operating in the state has emplaced a formidable team to ensure all the kidnap victims are rescued unhurt.

Meanwhile, no fewer than six of the train passengers reportedly kidnapped last Saturday have been rescued by the team.

Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of Benin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Festus Osagie, Usiobaifo, has said that the kidnapped customary court judge is the wife of Mr. Afebu Aigbonoga, PDP Candidate, Etsako West Constituency 1.

“The Chairman of the Lion Bar, Chief Nosa Francis Edo-Osagie is deeply sad by this news and condemns, in strong terms, the worrisome insensitivity of these bandits in kidnapping Mrs Precious Aigbonoga; an easy going, gentle, and hardworking judicial officer.

“Meanwhile, the Dream Team is in close touch with the Commissioner of Police, C.P. Mohammed Adamu Dankwara. By the grace of God Almighty, His Honour shall be rescued unhurt, and the bandits brought to book, Amen!

“Let us keep His Honour in our prayers, please”, he noted in a statement.
