Breaking: Kidnapped Ex-Edo Lawmaker Freed

Benin City, Nigeria – The kidnapped former member of Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Festus Udughele, has been released.

He was freed along with one Andrew Usifoh a staff of the Edo State Accountant General office said to have been abducted with him on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Special Assistant to the former legislator Mr Cletus Oboh, disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists in Benin City on Friday, January 13, 2023.

He said Hon Festus Edughele regained his freedom about 8pm.

Hon. Festus Edughele represented Esan South-East constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), between 2015 and 2019.

It will be recalled that armed men waylaid the ex-lawmaker at Ugoneki village in Uhunmwonde local government area of Edo State on his way to Benin City, last Monday.

The Igueben Area Customary Court President Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga who was also kidnapped that same day was rescued from captivity by the state security forces on Thursday, January 12, 2023.
