Breaking: Kidnapped Edo Judge Rescued

Benin City, Nigeria – Security forces have rescued the President of Igueben Area Customary Court, Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga who was reportedly kidnapped last Monday.

Aigbonoga was abducted around Ugoneki town in Uhunwmande local government area of Edo State on Monday, January 9, 2023 on her way to work.

The rescue of the Area Customary Court President was effected today, January 12, 2023.

The Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command SP Chidi Nwabuzor said the judge was rescued by the Military and Police at a spot called scorpion hill inside the forest where she was held captive.

Nwabuzor stated that a policeman lost his life during the rescue operation.

The Judge was said to have also sustained bullet wounds during the gun battle as she is receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.

The Benin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary Festus Usiobafo commended the security agencies for the rescue.

The association commiserated with the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Dankwara on the loss of his gallant operative.

Meanwhile, at press time, it was unknown if a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Festus Edughele who was also abducted that same day at a different location in the state, has regained his freedom.
