Show Your Building Certificates, Edo Govt Tells Property Owners In Ugbor, Ogheghe, Amagba

Owners of buildings in the Ugbor, Ogheghe, Amagba communities and environs in the Benin metropolis have been asked by Edo State Government to show their building certificates for recertification.

The government said it has concluded plans to commence a recertification campaign to guard against building collapse and other hazards.

Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development, Isoken Omo, in a statement on Thursday, urged members of the public to cooperate with officials of the ministry during the clearance and recertification exercise.

In the statement, she said: “The general public is hereby informed that Edo State Ministry of Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development will be commencing the “Operation Show Your Building Plan” exercise in Ugbor, Ogheghe, Amagba Communities and their environs from Friday March 11, 2022.”

She urged property owners and developers within the said areas to provide their building plans upon demand at their property/site for clearance and recertification.

“Staff of the Ministry will be going from property to property demanding evidence of Building Approval. The general public is advised to allow the officers of the Ministry to do their work and cooperate with them to avoid a breach of the peace,” she added.
