Yuletide: Prime Minister Of Oviorie-Ovu Community Calls For Peaceful Celebration

…Urges youths to shun violence

Otota (Prime- Minister) Of Oviorie – Ovu Community, in Osiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Moses Onoagharakpote Akpoyoware-Onoyivwinta, has made a passionate call to youths in his community in particular and Nigeria in general, to shun any acts of violence this Yuletide season.

He advised that people should adhere strictly to the doctrines of the Lord Jesus Christ, because “He is a master cum supreme propagator of peace and tranquility.”

Chief Moses Akpoyoware-Onoyivwinta, a wordsmith, who hails from Onoyivwinta Quarters in Ovu-in- land, made this appeal during the week in his residence in Oviorie, when some noted individuals and family members from the community paid him a seasonal courtesy visit.

The 91-year old retired civil servant, who served honorably and meritoriously in the then Nigeria Post & Telecommunications, said that the real reason for the season is for youths in Oviorie – Ovu Community and elsewhere in the country to embrace peace at all cost, and shun any behavior that will lead to the breakdown of law and order.

His words: “Violence is anathema to the peaceful coexistence and development of any society. Therefore, our youths in Oviore – Ovu community and in the country should not make themselves available for destructive activities.

“There is no disputing the fact that the economic situation is worsening by the day, but with continuous prayers and perseverance God the Almighty must surely guide us successfully out of current challenges.

“Our youths must please shun violence, let us all continue to be our brother’s keepers. We all should imitate our Lord Jesus Christ who not only demonstrated love, humanity, compassion, but sacrificed for the redemption of mankind.

“The Yuletide is a wonderful opportunity which believers and non-believers alike, should use to be contented with what is available financially and materially, knowing fully well that no condition is permanent.

“As l wish our people a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2022, l sincerely urge our youths to get closer to God, and as a people we must cultivate the habit of giving freely to friends and neighbors, and making of peace perpetually.”

Oviorie – Ovu is one of the six communities that make up Agbon kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.

Agbon clan is one of the twenty four subunits of the Urhobo people that has been in existence since the rise of the Benin Kingdom and before the arrival of the Portuguese.
