Buni APC Caretaker Committee Will Not Serve Out Oshiomhole Tenure, Says Obahiagbon

A chieftain of the ruling All progressive congress (APC), Patrick Obahiagbon has faulted the notion held in certain quarters that the Governor Mai Mala Buni led caretaker committee of the party is bent on staying put in office till June next year.

The Buni led caretaker committee constituted on June 28 last year after the APC National executive committee (NEC) dissolved the Adams Oshiomhole led national working committee (NWC) has had its six months tenure extended twice.

There are talks that the Buni led caretaker committee is already scheming to serve out Oshiomhole’s tenure which would have expired in June next year.

But addressing a press conference at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, Obahiagbon ruled out the possibility for tenure elongation for the Buni led caretaker committee.

“It is rumours, fake news. There is nothing like that. This CECPC is already progressing towards a National Convention and you can already see the work in progress,” Obahiagbon said.

“But mischief-makers and political shishido dos are just advised to stop their political mandibular walkabout and put the political jendi back in the bottle. These were the political shishido dos I was referring to.”

The Edo-born politician who declined to compare the Oshiomhole tenure with that of the Buni led committee frowned at series of litigations filed by aggrieved members of the party challenging the legality of the Buni led committee.

On the performance of the Buni led caretaker committee, he threw his weight behind the resolve by the party to sanction those who breached the APC constitution.

“Today, the committee stands high, and the party and its entire membership globally, are proud of the feats the committee has achieved, though we are also aware of efforts by a few who differ on the performance of the party under the committee’s watch,” Obahiagbon said.

“That is democracy for agreements and disagreements are the necessary ingredients that feeds the democratic ethos provided such agreements and disagreements are devoid of cranky ploys and political delinquency.

“Just now, I can magisterially pontificate that the CECPC has coruscatingly, cerebrally, and sapientially discharged its responsibilities to our great party and Nigerian’s. It’s time for political chichidodo’s within and without to halt their “mandibular walkabout” and put the political genie back inside the bottle.”
