Ahead Of Olu Coronation: Oba Of Benin Urges Itsekiri Kingmakers To Adhere To Traditions, Customs

Ahead of the coronation of Olu of Warri designate, Prince Tsola Emiko scheduled for Saturday August 21, 2021, Great Benin King, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has urged Warri Kingmakers to adhere to Itsekiri traditions and customs.

Oba Ewuare gave the charge when a special delegation of the Warri Council of Chiefs, led by Chief Gabriel Awala, the Uwangue of Warri Kingdom paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace in Benin City, Edo State capital to formally inform the Oba of the coronation.

Oba Ewaure II posited that adequate observance of ancient traditions and customs of the land would preserve the cultural heritage of the Itsekiri nation.

The Oba assured of the palace support for the Olu designate, insisting that the cultural and traditional ties between Warri and Benin kingdoms would be strengthened.

The Benin Monarch further promised the special delegation that the Benin throne would send a high power delegation to the coronation ceremony of the new Olu.

Earlier, Chief Gabriel Awala who led the Warri Council of Chiefs to the Palace informed the Benin Monarch through Chief Brown Meme that they were at his palace to formally inform the Oba of the crowning of a new Olu in Warri Kingdom.

Chief Awala who described the relationship between Warri and Benin as not only mutual but Cordial, said the Benin monarch would continue to be a father.

The Oba of Benin prayed to God and “our ancestors to grant the Olu designate successful coronation ceremony.”
