Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Benin Zone on Tuesday sealed up some Petrol Stations over alleged sharp Practices.

A major Marketer, Total Petrol Station on Akpakpava Street was amongst those caught red handed in the act.
Other Petrol  stations sealed  up by the DPR were Otopec,  NNPC Petrol Station and  Donason Oil on Airport road and  Eterna, on  Second East Circular Road.

Some Petrol Stations  which escaped the hammer were however  handed  stern warnings to desist from their nefarious acts or face the full wrath of the law. The culpable ones are to pay a 100 thousand Naira fine each.

The operations controller, DPR, Benin Zone Engineer Ebi Ogionwo said it is shameful that  marketers are engaging in unwholesome practices at this harsh economic period.

He said they will continue to ensure that no  station in Benin hoards fuel to create panic buying, check for quality control, under dispensing, safety and above all uniformity in petrol price.

Some motorists called  for  reduction of petrol price while appreciating the DPR monitoring team for the exercise. Meanwhile, it was observed that filling stations apart from major marketers now dispense petrol from between 166 naira and 172 naira per liter.
