Right Activist Asks EFCC, ICPC To Probe Alleged Dirty Deals By Retired Security Chiefs

By Okhide Em’ya David

Human Right activist, crusader and  global President of One Love Foundation, Patriot Patrick Osagie Eholor  has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to immediately commence probe of activities of the Nigeria’s recently retired security chiefs.

Eholor  also commonly referred to as Democracy Observer General of Nigeria, stated this in a statement issued on Wednesday .

He said though the  change of security Chiefs in Nigeria is coming rather late it is still a better approach to solving the nation’s worsening security challenges.

Eholor who strongly condemned the poor performance of immediate past security Chiefs alleged that they were grossly incompetent corrupt, highhanded and known for their ineptitude.

His words: “It became apparent early in the life of this administration  that the set of Security Chiefs now sacked by Buhari had no zeal to fight and secure the nation.”

Eholor said the  men were purely businessmen in uniform who came to make money from insecurity rather than securing the nation and that under their tenure, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping spread like wild fire from the North East to the North West, North Central, South West, South South and South East zones of the country.

The right Activist said the Service Chiefs were incompetent, clueless, corrupt and practiced nepotism and anti democratic in all their dealings.
He observed that rising spate of insecurity in the country can be attributed to the retention for far too long of the incompetent Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that he allowed them to stay too long because they were doing his bidding by protecting his office and those of his  cabals.

Eholor observed that the retired service chiefs  lost  many battles as the men in their various theatres became lame duck easily attacked by the insurgents.

He said their eventual exit  “is  good riddance to bad rubbish while  Nigerians will  not miss them.”

He said the new Service Chiefs, including  Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff, are experienced enough judging by their profiles and expressed the belief that they would be able to turn the tide on  decaying insecurity in the country in no distant time.

Eholor asked  new Service Chiefs to  shun politics and use their new positions to work selflessly for the peace and security of the country while the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari must continue to fund the military and their men by increasing their salaries and benefits to enable them compete favorably with their counterparts  world wide.

“You can’t send a hungry and angry man to secure you and be happy. There must be extra motivations to enable them discharge their duties effectively,” he added.

It will be recalled that the Human right activist had joined many concerned Nigerians to agitate for the retirement of the security chiefs and total overhaul of the security architecture of the Nation for protection of lives and property and expansion of influx of direct foreign investment.
