Gory Sight In Benin As Construction Truck Crushes Two To Death

It was a gory sight on Saturday at Ogiso Road axis, off Murtala Mohammed Way in the Benin metropolis, Edo State, Nigeria when a construction truck crushed two workers to death.

An eyewitness who described the tragedy as “horrific workplace accident,” said it threw the neighborhood into commotion as residents ran helter-skelter looking for assistance.

The eyewitness said the victims, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were part of construction staff on the Ogiso road which is under rehabilitation when the fully loaded concrete mixer truck suddenly lost its bearing and crushed them.

The two workmen were said to have died before help arrived at the scene.

Work at the construction site has reportedly been suspended to pave way for investigation into the incident.

As at the time of filling this report, Policemen from Esigie Police Division had evacuated the corpses of the accident victims to a private morgue in the area.
