Edo Govt Disclaims Unauthorized Recruitment Ad On Social Media, Says Authentic Exercise Begins Monday

Edo State Government has disclaimed unauthorized adverts circulating on social media on a recruitment exercise by the state government, noting that authentic advert for such recruitment would commence on Monday, December 14, 2020.   

In a statement, the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., emphasized that the recruitment is completely free of charge, urging that “applicants should, under no circumstance, guise or form, offer any money or other form of inducement or gratification in exchange for any assistance in the recruitment exercise.”  

According to him, “The attention of the Government of Edo State has been drawn to advertisements purportedly issued by the Head of Service and the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission on recruitment to fill the vacancies declared in the Public Service by the Government of Edo State. The General Public is hereby informed that while it is correct that the Government is working on recruitment in the Public Service, no advertisement has been released to the Press on the issue.

“For the avoidance of any doubt, all advertisements in the foregoing behalf, (including those on Social Media) will begin to run from Monday 14th December, 2020. Interested applicants are therefore advised to disregard any form of advertisement currently circulating on Social Media and look out for the authentic adverts from Monday 14th December 2020 in the Print and Electronic Media.”

“I wish to emphasize that the recruitment is completely free of charge. Applicants should, under no circumstance, guise or form, offer any money or other form of inducement or gratification in exchange for any assistance in the recruitment exercise. The recruitment process will be free, fair, transparent, credible and in accordance with global best practices in line with the vision of Mr. Governor and the finest principles and ethics of the Public Service.”

He added that appropriate sanctions (including prosecution) will be meted out to any person, within or outside of the Public Service who violates or encourages the violation or breach of the above principles.
