Austrian Govt To Promote Commercial, Economic Ties With Edo State

Austrian Government intends to promote commercial and economic relationship with the Edo State Government, especially in areas where it has competitive advantage such as technology, machinery building and the construction industry.

Austrian Commercial Counsellor to Nigeria, Mr. Guido Stock, gave the indication at the Government House, Benin City, Edo State capital during his courtesy visit to Governor Obaseki at the weekend.

He also affirmed that Austria is well known for its technical education which it is willing to help develop in the state.

Edo Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, had expressed readiness to partner with the Austrian Government in promoting investment in the state’s solid mineral sector and the development of local technical capacity in the sector.

Obaseki noted that Edo State is blessed with natural endowments and natural resources, such as limestone and coal, adding that the state boasts of rich aquatic resources in West Africa.

The governor also stressed the government’s keen interest in technical education, noting that building local capacity in specialist areas would contribute to developing the state’s economy.

Noting that the state is willing to collaborate with Austria in the areas of waste recycling, reforestation and technical education, he said, “The State has an Enterprise Park which Austrian investors willing to do business in Nigeria can seamlessly locate in.”
