#EndSARS: Edo National Association Denounces Police Brutality, Supports Peaceful Protests

Edo National Association Worldwide (ENAW), an organization comprised of Edo people in the United States and Canada has joined in the global calls for an end to Police brutality, and violence resulting from civil unrests in Nigeria.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Edison Oyiboke-Osifo, Mr. Matins Idemudia and Mr. Festus Ehiozomwangie, National President, Chairman Council of Presidents and Secretary of the organization respectively, ENAW enjoined the Nigerian Government to exercise restraint in the handling of the peaceful protesters.

The organization said: “Every Nigerian deserves free association and unrestrained access to socio-political participation in a peaceful gathering as propounded by the #ENDSARS Protest Movements.

“We support peaceful protest that will bring about the Meaningful changes for a better Nigeria. Furthermore, we strongly eschew any form of violence that will result to the destruction of lives and properties.

“We are challenged to give our support to any good governance whose goals are geared towards providing enabling environment for her citizens to thrive.

“Once again, we are calling on the President, Mohammadu Buhari, and all the Federal and State Security Apparatus to ensure law and order in accordance with provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and International Law.
