Edo 2020: US-based University Don, Tony Ogiamien Backs Obaseki’s Reelection

United States of America-based university don and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Tony Ogiamien, has affirmed support for the reelection of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu.

Ogiamien’s endorsement is coming in less than a month to the September 19, 2020 Edo State gubernatorial election.

Professor Ogiamien, founder of American Heritage University of Southern California, in a statement, said: “Along with my family, friends and associates, having keenly watched and listened to the political happenings, actions and utterances of the gladiators in Edo State, I hereby declare my unflinching support for the candidature of Godwin N. Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu.

He added: “My privileged experience as a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since May 1999, and a former ministerial nominee, alongside to mention a few, the likes of General T. Y. Danjuma, Chief Tony Anenih, Chief Solomon Lar, Sunny Awoniyi and Prince Tony Omoaghe, wherein I represented Edo South Senatorial district in former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s proposed Cabinet, places me on good pedestal to understand where we are and the direction we should follow.”

The varsity don continued: “It is on record that after my retirement from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), I left for California in the United States, where I founded American Heritage University of Southern California.

“Nevertheless, my regular presence at home and involvement with several interest groups make me more at home than in diaspora.

“At this time, it is pertinent that we separate the truth from trash and support the smooth sailing administration of GGO and its vision of Making Edo Great Again.”
