BOSTON —The Fourth of July holiday weekend is off to a violent start, with shootings in Boston, Somerville and Worcester Thursday night and early Friday morning.
In Roxbury, a 15-year-old boy was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting reported around 10 p.m. Thursday. That came less than two hours after a man was shot and killed in Mattapan. The city’s first homicide of Thursday came at 12:15 a.m., when a 45-year-old man was shot and killed in Dorchester.
No arrests have been made in any of the incidents, Boston Police said.
In Somerville, police responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment on River Road around midnight. Four people were taken to the hospital. One of the victims was listed in critical condition, but all four victims are expected to survive.
On Friday morning, Cambridge police arrested Justin Ellcock, 24, Davel Matthew, 23, and Destiny Banks, 23, all of Cambridge, in connection with the shooting. The three were in a car that matched a description put out by Somerville police that was parked at Davis Street and Broadway.
“We’re going to take every investigatory steps to bring this to a conclusion,” Somerville Police Chief David Fallon told Boston News 10. “But again our thoughts are with the victims right now and will move forward with this investigation and will bring it to a conclusion.”Subscribe
Early Friday morning, at least two people were shot along Lakeside Avenue in Worcester. Other details were not immediately available Friday.
