Edo 2020: Labor Party Says Electorates Will Resist Oshiomhole

…Says his contradictory character only consistent with desperation to become a godfather

…Former National Chairman insensitive, spat on the grave of late speaker,Zakawanu

…Insists Edo people will reject his antics, disabled guber candidate

Edo State Labour Party has said electorates in the state will resist the antics of the sacked former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s September 19, 2020 gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The party added that the contradictions in the character of Oshiomhole are consistent in pointing to his pursuit of selfish interest and desperation for infantile personalisation of Edo State.

In a statement on Thursday, the party said the contest will be between the majority of Edo electorates who are ready to vote for Governor Godwin Obaseki, in a peaceful, free and fair election, and Adams Oshiomhole who is desperately seeking to convert the state into his personal property.

The statement was jointly signed by the state party chairman, Comrade Oghalol K.S.E; National Secretary, Barrister Abure Julius and the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Isaiah Osifo, JP.

“The leaders and members of Labour Party are not surprised over Oshiomhole’s selfish apology and his regret for supporting the election of Godwin Obaseki as the governor of Edo State, but we are disappointed that Adams Oshiomhole in his ignorance cannot understand a clear fact that Edo people know him and they have long rejected his antics, style and desperation to convert the collective wealth of Edo State to his personal property.

“Oshiomhole in 2016 was vocal in his condemnation of Ize-Iyamu and elaborated his antecedents that border on several criminal conduct. He told Edo people not to get close to Ize-Iyamu, insisting that his election as the governor of Edo State will be dangerous to the collective interest of all Edo people.

“In 2020, Oshiomhole is singing a different song, telling Edo electorates that nobody should take his words serious, and the same person is asking Edo electorates to elect Ize-Iyamu that is undergoing criminal prosecutions by APC government over money laundering.

“If his regret for supporting Governor Obaseki is in the interest of Edo State, he should point out areas where the governor had breached his trust with the people of Edo State. What we hear and see from Oshiomhole are his usual empty rhetoric, attacks against the person of the governor and frustrations over the refusal of Obaseki to surrender Edo State for his pleasure and personal ownership.”

Alleging that Oshiomhole spat on the grave of the former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Zakawanu Garuba, the party noted: “We are again vindicated by the conduct of Oshiomhole who has no respect for humanity, decency, ethics and law.

“How can any decent leader with a sense of humanity and ethics choose to address a rally for his spurious apology to Edo people on the same day, about the same time and in the same local government area where the former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba was laid to rest?

“His disrespect for late Zakawanu Garuba and the people of Edo State, his decision to assemble young men into a crowd in an unholy hour at a time when cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and attendant deaths are on the increase is an indication of insensitivity and desperation to seek personal interest at the expense of the welfare, security and concern for the people of Edo State”.

The statement added: “The collective will of the people of Edo will resist and defeat the aim of Adams Oshiomhole to unleash terror on innocent citizens because of his coordinating plans to rig the election.

“He is only consistent with the pursuit of his selfish interest to own Edo State and to destroy democracy in Nigeria with his contradictory character. Edo people should ignore his lies, reject his disabled APC candidate and be vigilant to defend our democracy and the noble culture of Edo people.”
