Frontline Edo APC gubernatorial aspirant, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Friday made public 2 emergency phones for personswho are in dire need of food and water to call, so that He can reach out for them to feed themselves and their families.
He was speaking while releasing a lorry load of the foodstuffs which was headed for the 64 wards in the 6 local government areas that make up Edo North, while others were being loaded for the other wards in the local government areas of Edo Central and Edo South senatorial districts
He gave the Lines as 07046373027 and 08114046290 and said there will be persons at the receiving ends who will ask a few questions about the callers, so that can adequately prepare, for such assistance to be dispatched.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu who on Thursday distributed Hand sanitizers and Coronavirus awareness leaflets across the state, said he is distributing food items such as Rice, Beans, Garri, Noddles, tin tomatoes, Salt, Water etc to vulnerable people across Edo state because there is a compelling need at this time to do so.
He said that with the lockdown with restriction of movement of persons across the state as part of measures to reduce the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus, people are bound to be hungry and are ready to do whatever they can to get food so they can feed.
“Let me say clearly that we are doing this not for politics. We are doing it because there is a compelling need at this time to do it”, adding that, “Our target is 1000 families. Our plan is that every part of the state, in every ward, we should be able to touch a certain number of families”.
Mewnwhile Pastor Ize-Iyamu has explained that the need for the effective distribution of the foodstuffs informed his decision on Thursday to announce Directors for his campaign organization, ” since I cannot do it alone”.
“That is why yesterday we had to announce members of our campaign organization because they will be the ones to drove the process of this food distribution. I cannot do it alone. I also believe that these persons should be known so when they go to places it is clear where they are coming from”
He then reiterated his appeals to well meaning Edo people to support persons in need even as he reminded the State government to buy food in bulk and set up Food Banks, so that more people can have to buy or get for free when the need arises.
