Six Indigent Nigerians Receive Aiyevbvekpen Obazee Foundation Scholarship Awards

Six lucky indigent students of Edo origin who were awarded the Aiyevbvekpen Josephine Sophia Obazee foundation scholarship in 2018, all studying different courses at the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria have received their checks for the 2019-20 school year.

In a statement made available to Altimepost.com, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Nosabota listed the beneficiaries of the foundation’s four years scholarship program as follows:

1. Cajetan Iyenagbe, 200level, Animal science, University of Benin.

2. Omozogie Emmanuel, 200level, computer engineering, University of Benin.

3. Osariemen Grace, 200 level physiology, Delta State University.

4. Obasuyi Owen Gideon, 400level, medicine and surgery, university of Benin.

5. Paul Luck John, 500leveL Formal adult education, university of Benin.

6. Salami Benedicta, 200level, early childhood Education, university of Benin.

The Foundation has, as scholarship committee members, Rev. Father Paul Onyeoghane, Parish Priest Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Benin City; Mr. Oziengbe Ikilo, Mrs. Esther Egharevba, Mr. Leo Lucky Aimuomofiaogun and Miss Osasere Peace Okhomina

According to Mrs. Nosabota, the foundation was established on November 28, 2017 to keep alive, the memory of her daughter, Aiyevbekpen Josephine Obazee who met her untimely death on November 28, 2016, in a ghastly motor vehicle accident in Boston Massachusetts, United States of America.

“The wish to keep her name and dream alive started on Tuesday November 28th, 2017 one year after her death. Family, friends and well-wishers came together at a fundraising towards this Memorial Scholarship Fund which started with the Holy Mass here in Boston. Massachusetts. This humanitarian project has been progressing tremendously, thanks to you all.”

Mrs. Nosabota, who said the Foundation issued the first tuition checks to the six under graduates who are beneficiaries of this fund in 2018, thanked the numerous people and organizations who made donations to the funds and appealed for their continued support in that direction.

“On behalf of my entire family I want to sincerely appreciate you all my dear friends and well-wishers for your benevolence and generosity towards this Noble course of helping the less privilege members of our community. May the good Lord bless you richly . I must not forget the committed committee

Members who are working tirelessly to keep the foundation going. May the Lord reward each one of you bountifully and fill your homes with joy peace and abundant blessings now and always. Amen.”

She further called on members of the public to donate towards the memorial fund.

About The Young Woman, Josephine Aiyevbekpen Obazee

On Friday, the 28th day of June 1991 at about 2:45 pm, the great city of Benin in Benin Kingdom witnessed the birth of a pretty damsel at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City.

Her name: Aiyevbekpen, Josephine, Sophia, Ekhosuehi Obaze, daughter of Susan Nosabota and Douglas Obaze. She was 2nd and only daughter of her mother, Susan Nosabota.

Josephine was a practicing Catholic, baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Evbhoriaria, Benin in September 1991. She took her first holy communion at Saint Paul Catholic Church airport road Benin City in April 2000.

Back home in Nigeria, she was very friendly, attracted to and by all who knew her. Josephine’s childhood days were filled with friends and family love, and also religious activities. She loved being around her peers dancing, outing, travelling, watching movies, television series and drama.

She had a good sense of humor with excellent memory. In the middle of talking and playing with friends, she could still tell you what your conversation was about. She’ll remember family and friends’ birthdays, including important things about them, for years. She was nice to be with, observed people feelings, and made them feel good.

She visited various cities within and outside US, including Florida, Las Vegas, New York, California Dallas, Houston, Jamaica Miami, Fort Lola dale, and New Jersey. She loved mostly, birthdays and graduation – this explains why Josephine did not work during weekends. She enjoyed her well planned life style during her short life on earth.

Her formal education started in1993 at Ebenezer private nursery school Benin City: pre-kg.

Between1994 and 2002 – Our Lady of Apostles nursery and primary school, Benin City; JSS 1-3 2002-2005 at Girls Model State School, Abudu, Edo State; SS 1-2 Between 2005-2007 at Federal Government Girls College Benin City; 11th and 12th grade between 2007-2009, Brighton High School, Brighton MA; 2009-2013, University of Massachusetts, Boston MA. – BA Criminal Justice.

Employment

While alive, Josephine worked for various companies in Boston, including: MAB Community Services as Residential counselor -2011; NEEDS Center Inc., as Assistant Program Coordinator , 2014-2015; North Suffolk mental Health Association, Inc.; May Institute as Behavior Therapist, 2016; New England: Behavior Therapist, and Vinfen Organization in 2016.
