Boston Celebrates Valerie Iyawe’s Life

Following funeral services in honor of late Lt. Col Valerie Doughty-Iyawe and her interment, a funeral wake was hosted in celebration of her life in Boston on Saturday December 21, 2019.

The event was put together by Eghosa Old Boys Association, widower Roy Iyawe’s alma mater.

Iyawe is the President of the Boston chapter of the organization. The Association’s Vice President, Eric Idahor led the team that organized the event, supported members of the Nigerian community in Boston.

Several eulogies were delivered, beginning with that of the family, which was read by Ewaen Iyawe, mirroring her greatness of character, values, family bond/love, unblemished service to the country, selflessness and many great achievements.

Among others who paid glowing tribute to her included, Semi Eriyo, Henry Idada Eseimude, Myles Iyamu and Chris Okundaye, all admiring her character, sense of humility, great accomplishments and the ability to connect with and embrace everyone, especially Nigerians and their culture.

Lt. Col Valerie Doughty-Iyawe passed away on December 6, 2019 at the age of 60.
