Police Clamps down On Criminals, Arrest 58 Suspects In Edo

At least, 58 suspected criminals have been arrested by operatives of Edo State Police Command in its ongoing renewed clampdown launched against crime and criminality in the state.
The Commissioner of Police CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta, recently deployed to the state has vowed to take the ongoing raid to the door step and hideouts of unrepentant criminals and their allies towards ensuring safer Edo State.
The 58 suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, cultism/illegal possession of firearms, defilement, fraud to car snatching.
Arms, ammunition, deadly weapons, and vehicles were recovered from the suspects who were apprehended at different locations in the state. CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta disclosed this during his maiden press briefing in Benin City on Friday, December 13, 2019. He said the command strategies led to the achievements as operatives were on the trail of some other criminals at large.
The police boss who assured residents of security of lives and property, appealed to them to always volunteer information to the police as such would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Amongst the suspects a four-man gang armed robbers alleged to had on November 24, 2019 killed a cab driver one Oghogho Okunbor by stabbing him on the back, tied him up and dumped him into Ikpoba river in Benin City.
They were said to have thereafter used his ATM card to withdraw money from his account and attempted to sell off his Toyota Camry Saloon (sedan) car with registration number AGB-MN. 
The suspects include Moses Osamudiamen, Chinedu Amah, Chinonso Ozuoro and Emmanuel Obikeze aka 2Tie.
During their parade before journalists on Friday, the suspects admitted the crime but denied knowledge of the driver’s death.
