Oba Of Benin To Edo Police Commissioner: Reactivate Police Community Relations Committee

Oba Ewuare II of the Great Benin Kingdom has urged the new Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Mr. Dan-Mallam Mohammed to re-activate the Police Community Relations Committee, saying it would be useful in fighting insecurity and criminality in the society.

The Omo N’Oba who stated this when he received the Edo State Commissioner of Police in his Palace also suggested the setting up of security watch in various parts of the state to arrest the increasing rate of insecurity.

The Benin Monarch called on the Federal Government to support the Police financially and materially to enable it beef up security and discharge its duties effectively

Oba Ewuare II expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by the new Commissioner since assumption of duty in the state, pointing out that the Palace is concerned about the increasing rate of crime in the state, especially cultism, which the Palace has placed a curse on those making life unbearable for innocent citizens.

Earlier, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Dan-Mallam Mohammed said he was in the Palace to pay homage to His Royal Majesty and solicit for Royal blessings to enable him succeed in his onerous responsibility of policing Edo State.

He said with the prayers and support of the Palace, he would be able to conquer crime in the state, adding that the task of policing the state require the support of all the citizens.

Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo also received the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) with a promise that the Palace would keep supporting the command for the benefit of the people.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Makinde used the opportunity provided by the visit to request for a parcel of land for the establishment of the State Secretariat of NSCDC, and thanked His Royal Majesty for the support over the years.
