NIGERIA 2019: THE PRESIDENTIAL JESTERS

alltimepost.com

Moving forward from the crowded pack of over fed presidential jesters within the PDP, the presidential aspiration of Omoyele Sowore is the most intoxicating and far reaching train which the Nigerian youths should genuinely embrace and use to get a damning shot at the Aso Rock Presidential Palace during the February 16 2019 Presidential Election. Since the Marxist/Socialist adherents in Nigeria have refused to get out of the prison of unnecessary internal infighting, senseless ideological dialecticism cum supremacy tantrums, the vibrant and missionary Nigerian youths must throw the platforms being used by the APC, PDP, SDP etc. into the gutter of irrelevance and pitch tent with one of their own like Omoyele Sowore, former student leader and Publisher of Sahara Reporters. This could be achieved if the privileged Nigerian youths make unity, uncompromising cooperation and massive deployment of financial resources permanent feature of what one will term an unorthodox revolutionary national movement.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he heavily polluted lake of political horse trading towards the 2019 elections that was activated by the shameless and ridiculous cross carpeting across the land recently is beginning to clear out gradually.

It is opening up with a litany of first grade but recycled politicians coming out of their cocoons by indicating their parochial desires to take the presidential crown from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Constitutionally all those presidential aspirants warming up to get the mandate to Aso Rock Presidential Palace are eligible to try their luck in spite of their jaundiced antecedents , fake popularity and glaring parochial agenda.

Of all the characters jumping, dancing and ranting round the country, embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki, appear to me the most brazen, comical and as someone living in a paradise full of nincompoops.

What makes Bukola Saraki to think that he can be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Is it because he has been able so far to wriggle out his neck from being smashed to pieces by the Code of Conduct Tribunal’s hammer?

What does Bukola Saraki take the people of Nigeria for, some dumb babies, and unthinking lots? If Saraki had been very lucky while the political romance of treachery, conspiracy and back stabbing which he championed within the All Progressives Congress (A P C) lasted, that unenviable record certainly did not qualify him as a political cum presidential messiah that the people of Nigeria are waiting for, come February 2019?

Politically spoon fed and pampered by his late father, Olusola Saraki, a former commissioner, two-time Governor of Kwara State, has consciously laced his political career with a thick rope of selfishness, insatiable ambition, serial scandals, reckless corruption etc.

He is certainly never going to be a great number one citizen of Nigeria. It is being said in some quarters that he is one of the most popular politicians in Nigeria today. Yes he has become popular! But his kind of popularity was achieved via scandalous politicking and negative media reportage of his often controversial activities.

Therefore, Bukola Saraki as far as the 2019 Presidential Election is concerned is not only a joker but a Jester. Honestly, his presidential aspiration kite will not fly higher than that of President Muhammadu Buhari, in spite of the obvious challenges hanging on the neck of the former military dictator from Daura.

Retired Customs & Excise Officer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who had been stupendously empowered by the military top brass in Nigeria, was a foundation member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where providence smiled on him in 1999 when he became Nigeria’s Vice -President.

After Atiku had weathered the presidential storm for eight years with General Obasanjo, he got terribly bruised beyond his expectations and earned a political red card from the famous unforgiving ‘farmer’ from Ota.
If Olusegun Obasanjo till tomorrow sees Atiku as a political platform that represents incurable corruption, stark retrogression and backwardness, then something diabolical is wrong with the former vice – president.

As a serial carpet crosser, Atiku’s billions cannot purchase for him the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag for the 2019 Presidential Election because of the way things are within the party.

We must not forget that Saraki is now with the PDP as a result of his recent decampment. Former Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal was fantastically lucky in 2015 when he decamped from the PDP to the APC and was swept into Sokoko Government House as Governor via the wind of the APC broom that swept mercilessly throughout the country.

Today, Tambuwal is back to his vomit (PDP) and he has indicated his interest in the presidency. Does Tambuwal have the national political clout that can give him the PDP ticket not to talk of displacing Muhammadu Buhari in Presidential Election proper?

Today, more than 200 APC political appointees have resigned their positions from Tambuwal ‘now’ led PDP government in protest against his recent carpet crossing. This is a perfect sign of unpleasant things to expect in the coming weeks in Sokoto political terrain for Tambuwal.

Rabiu Kwakwaso, former Minister of Defense, two time-Governor of Kano State now a Senator, carpet crossed from the PDP before the general elections in 2015. He was among the formidable team of presidential aspirants that Muhammadu Buhari out classed and dusted during the APC primaries in Lagos in 2015.

Today, Kwankwaso has not only retraced his steps back to the PDP but has put enough diesels into the engine of his presidential ambition. Is it possible for Kwankwaso, visibly cerebral and people-oriented, given his administrative performance in Kano State to make the needed difference at the center? Only time will tell.

Ahmed Makarfi, two time Governor of Kaduna State, and until, presently a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is sweating it out around the country passionately soliciting for support in the fast approaching PDP presidential primaries.

Can the colorless, easy talking, but penetratingly intelligent Makarfi turn the table against Muhammadu Buhari if he eventually becomes the PDP flag bearer? Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State, and one Alhaji Dakwanbo, a sitting Governor of Gombe State etc. are among the Legions of presidential aspirants of northern extraction within the PDP.

They are bringing out their chests for the February 16th Presidential Election as if the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is designed for them alone within the PDP.

By that, they can match the present reactionary, conventional and ultraconservative political system cash for cash, propaganda for propaganda, man for man. Regrettably, with about six months to the presidential election the indices on the ground is unfavorable to the realization of a national youth political redemption process that will throw up the likes of Omoyele Sowore and squarely give the conservative forces in Nigeria a good fight for their Petrol dollars.

Arising from the above, unless the youths stand their grounds and say ‘no’ to the old, corrupt and unpatriotic political class, the odds or political calculations still favors the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari to sail over and above the present crop of presidential jesters warming up to snatch his crown.
