In a press statement, the palace said:
It has come to the notice of the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin that some journalists are in the habit of publishing conflicting reports about activities, events and pronouncement at the Oba Palace.
The general public is hereby informed that any information emanating from the Palace can only be made public by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin.
Journalists are hereby advised to desist from publishing reports which do not emanate from the Chief Press Secretary to Oba of Benin, as such report could be conflicting, misleading and embarrassing.
Journalists are admonished to adhere to this procedure, please.
