Police Launch Manhunt For Abductors Of Rev Father In Edo

Benin City – Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Johnson Kokumo said today that a serious manhunt had been launched for the abductors of a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Edwin Omorogbe, kidnapped on Wednesday April 18, 2018 by unknown persons.

Kokumo said police swung into action on the receipt of his abduction report and assured of his safe release.

He said tactical squad of the state police command had commenced combing of suspected forests in the state.

It was learnt that the incident occurred at Egba junction along Benin-Ekpoma highway.

Rev. Fr. Omorogbe was said to be returning to Benin from Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North East local government area of Edo State when he was waylaid and whisked away.

It could not be ascertained at press time today whether the kidnappers have made contact demanding for ransom.
