Police Launch Manhunt For Attackers Of Bureau De Change Operators In Edo

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ENIN CITY- Edo State Police Command said it had commenced a manhunt for the hoodlums that allegedly attacked and injured some operators of Bureau De Change at Ekiosa market in Benin City, last Wednesday.

The hoodlums allegedly carted away yet to be disclosed amount of hard currencies during the broad day violence, Spokesman for Edo Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed, while giving an update on the incident in his office on Thursday..

He said operatives were swiftly drafted to the trouble spot as normalcy was swiftly restored.

Chairman of Hausa Community in Edo State, Alhaji Gbadamasi Saliu said he was informed of the attack through a telephone call and thanked security agencies for their timely response, noting that the amount stolen could not be immediately ascertained.

Trouble was said to have ensued when the BDC operators resisted an attempted extortion orchestrated by a gang of area boys.The situation triggered confusion at the busy Third junction, as traders locked their shops and fled in different directions.

The usual social-economic activities were ongoing when our reporter visited the area on Thursday.
