African Traditional Rulers To Honor Mandela In UN, Oba Adeyemi Tells Benin Monarch

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]frican Traditional rulers will hold a conference in the United Nations in New York in July this year to honor freedom Icon and first post-apartheid South Africa’s Democratic President, late Dr. Nelson Mandela, His Royal Highness Adedapo Adeyemi told the Oba of Benin last week.

Oba Adeyemi, the Alayemore of Ido-Osun who informed Oba Ewuare II of the Great Benin Kingdom about the upcoming event during his curtesy visit to the Oba in his palace last week, said a formal invitation would be extended to the Monarch.

He had visited the Benin Monarch to deliver a message to him from the National secretariat of the National Council of Traditional Rulers (NCTR).

Oba Adeyemi briefed the Oba of Benin about the existence of the body, pointing out that there was need for Omo N’Oba to know what was happening at the secretariat.

He commended the Benin King for being a step ahead of them in his pro-activeness towards combating the problems of human trafficking and cattle herdsmen in the state

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of Certificate of Membership of the National Council of Traditional Rulers to His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II.

In his response, Oba Ewuare II expressed satisfaction with the message from the National Secretariat of the National Council of Traditional Rulers as well as the Ooni of Ife and assured of his support and cooperation, especially in the unification of Nigeria and the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of our people to the international community.

In another development, the Oba of Benin also received Miss Osaretin Arase, who came to the Palace for Royal blessing in her mission to establish Miracle Amadi Help Foundation for the less privileged in the society.
