Our Position On Governor Obaseki’s Ban On Night Grazing By Fulani Herdsmen – Dan Orbih

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e condemn in very strong terms the banning of night time grazing in the state by Governor Godwin Obaseki. The pronouncement of the ban is begging the issue. It is unimplementable and cosmetic. It has shown clearly that this government is unserious in addressing the serious issue of the menace of the Fulani herdsmen in Edo State.

Edo State government has with this development, effectively turned Edo State into a cattle colony during the day. Governor Obaseki has inadvertently given license to the herdsmen to invade farms and feast on their produce as long as it’s done in the daytime.

By his announcement, farms and farmers are now exposed to the menace of the rampaging herdsmen and Governor Obaseki’s policy emboldens them. It is a clear demonstration of the Governor’s insensitivity to the plight of Edo people who are now living in fear and danger.

This is totally unacceptable to Edo PDP and all Edo people.

The main issue is not about night time grazing but about land for cattle colonies.

Why is Governor Obaseki having difficulty in stating his position on the proposed policy of the creation of cattle colonies in Nigeria?

Edo people have seen and heard how Delta State Government in the last 48 hours came out to say they don’t have land for cattle colony. Their position was clear, unambiguous and categorical.

We challenge Governor Obaseki to state his position on the policy of cattle colony.

EDO PDP…listening to the cries of Edo people.

Signed

Chief Dan Osi Orbih.
