Earlier in his speech, Dr. Fashaeun told Oba Ewuare II that Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) is a social cultural organisation established to promote, defend and protect the interest of human race, pointing out that it was not meant for community trouble.

Dr. Fashaeun said he has come for greater opportunity to excel in the security of lives and property which the people desire so much.

He commended the Oba of Benin for elevating the Benin tradition and acknowledged the contributions of His Royal Majesty to the progress, and happiness of the people.

The OPC President and Founder remarked that his visit to the Oba of Benin would remain indelible in his mind as he has never been exposed to tradition in this manner. Dr. Fashaeun assured the Benin Monarch that there was no faction in OPC “as Oodua is one race.”
