Benin City, Nigeria – Legendary African pop star and a popular telecommunication ambassador, Innocent Idibia has ignited the passion of youths in Edo state, with a charge to them to uphold the values that promote peace before, during and after the September 10th 2016 governorship election in the state.

Idibia, also known as Tuface/2Baba, urged youths to be law abiding and shun vices. He cautioned them to be wary of maverick politicians scheming to use them as instruments of violence for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

He spoke at an interactive session with youths in Benin as part of the two-day activities to mark the International World youth Day organised by the state chapter of the National youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) last Friday at Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in the state Capital.

“The idea is to spread the message to let everybody know that youth should not be use for violence.

“Violence is not good, but against women it is crazy”, he said.

‘Eh men, for nothing to happen, make you vote, don’t fight’.

Speaking at the occasion, the former President of the Nigeria Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Mr. Agharese Idubor, paid tribute to Tuface for his positive inspiration of youths and the promotion of peace in the country.

He made it known that the aim of bringing the popular model to interface with a cross section of youths in the state, was to promote ‘the vote, don’t fight slogan’.

By promoting this slogan it was hoped the fatalities and casualties usually associated with election violence in the state will be drastically reduced.

According to him, “when politicians make unwarranted hate speeches, it triggers violent actions amongst young persons who unfortunately do not know when these (politicians) meet in their closet and clink glasses”.

The pop star, who was clad in a pair of sun glasses and red fitted sleeve shirt atop Jeans trouser, caused a stir along Akpakpava road in Benin City as some fans of the popular Nigerian musician scampered to get his attention.
