Why I Didn’t Pick Female Running Mate – Ize-Iyamu

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has expressed appreciation for the goodwill shown towards his choice of John Yakubu as his running mate and assured women who expected him to have picked a woman that women would not be relegated in his administration.

He has also assured youths, saying that youths like women would be given important roles in his administration if he is elected.

Ize-Iyamu who spoke in a press statement to appreciate leaders, stalwarts and all those who honoured him at the flag-off also gave special commendations to his wife, Dr. Idia Ize-Iyamu for being a “pillar of support and anchor in the unsettling waters of politics.”

“For those that were hoping that we could have gone for a female running mate with the potential of producing the first female deputy governor of Edo State, I want to sincerely seek their understanding of the peculiarity of the time. However, let me put it on record that we intend to run a very gender sensitive administration in which the women-folk will be accorded equitable consideration with regard to political appointments, employment, and empowerment.

“I also want to publicly appreciate my immediate and extended families for their support and encouragement which contributed to the success of our flag-off. Of particular mention is my darling wife Dr. Idia Ize-Iyamu, who has been a pillar of support and an anchor in the unsettling waters of politics.”
