Benin Kingdom: Prince Greg Akenzua Heads Coronation Planning Committee

Benin City – Prince (Prof.) Gregory Akenzua, junior brother to the late Benin Monarch, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa has been tapped to chair the committee to plan the coronation of a new King, His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb.) Eheneden Erediauwa, the Edaiken of Uselu.

Prince Gregory Akenzua is the Enogie (Duke) of Evbuobanosa in Benin Kingdom and uncle of the Crown Prince.

The coronation committee was one of the three committees, including: planning, finance and government recently inaugurated by the Benin Traditional Council.

The inauguration of the committees followed the performance and completion of all the required traditional rites, including the royal funeral rites, ‘Emwinekhua’ by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb.) Eheneden Erediauwa.

In a statement jointly signed by the Iyase (Prime Minister) of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe (MON); Oliha of Benin, Chief Edionwe Oliha and Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Mr. Frank Irabor, at the end of a media briefing which took place inside the Oba’s Palace, the three chairmen of the committees were named.

At the briefing, members of the Benin Traditional Council said they were proud of the Edaiken N ‘ Uselu and prayed God to grant everyone the good health to witness this epoch-making event (coronation) of the millennium which would be announced later.
