POLLS: Edo Police Command Warns Against Thuggery

BENIN—AHEAD of weekend’s state House of Assembly election in Edo State, the state Police Command has warned that it would not entertain any form of thuggery and advised politicians to abide by the rules of the game.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joseph Edoigiawerei, gave the warning in Benin, yesterday, amidst speculations that politicians in the state were arming their thugs with a view to causing mayhem during the election.

He said: “We advise all politicians in the state to play according to the rules of the game.

We will not tolerate thuggery in whatever ramification during the election.

Politicians should not try the Police because we are capable of dealing with the situation.

“We have resolved to ensure that we have a hitch-free election in the state on Saturday as we did during the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Our strategies are to ensure that the electorate are protected and we have a hitch-free election.”(Vanguard)
