Oshiomhole Mourns Catholic Priest

By Alltimepost.com

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has commiserated with the Archbishop of Benin Catholic Diocese, Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, and the entire Catholic Church in Edo State and Nigeria on the passing of Rev. Father Festus Ogbomwan.

Until his death on Saturday, Father Ogbomwan was the Parish Priest of St Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Benin City.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, Oshiomhole said “My Lord, it is with a very heavy heart that I write to commiserate with you, the Catholic Church and indeed the Christian family on the death of our Reverend Father, Festus Ogbomwan, whose transition to glory came to me as a rude shock.

His transition is indeed a colossal loss not only to our dear State, but indeed, the entire nation, which he served devotedly, teaching morals through the Word of God.”

“I’ve had several personal interactions with Rev Father Ogbonwan, both as a Priest who gives me the Holy Communion and as a concerned citizen of our dear state and I found him to be a remarkably frank and patriotic Priest with a deep commitment to the betterment of our society; a kind and humane Reverend Father with uncommon simplicity, humility, decency and a man worthy of emulation.”

“Even as we mourn him, we are assured that he has gone to rest in the bosom of our Lord whom he served so devotedly.

The Governor prayed for God’s consoling grace on his extended family, members of his Parish, the Church and indeed the entire people of Edo State on this sad loss.
