Political aspirants from Imo State of Nigeria have been urged to seize the opportunity offered by the forth-coming convention of Mbaitoli USA, Incorporated to present their agenda to the electorate in the Diaspora.

Mbaitoli, an Imo state-oriented socio-cultural organization with headquarters in Boston Massachusetts has scheduled its 3rd convention to hold at the American Best Value Inn, Baltimore, Maryland from Friday August 29 to 31, 2014. The theme of the convention is: Udo N’Oganihu Mbaitoli (Peace and progress of Mbaitoli).

The association’s president, Mr. Martin Dimunah said in a statement during the week in Boston that Mbaitoli people from all over the world would attend the convention where issues of vital importance to them would be discussed, urging political aspirants and their supporters to register their presence at the occasion.

“We hope that the convention will provide a platform for their agenda for Mbaitoli in particular and Imo-state in general. We also hope that as they state their objectives and galvanize their supporters, the atmosphere will help generate momentum and enthusiasm within Mbaitolians here and at home for their political aspirations.”

Dimunah re-echoed the expectation of Chief Spencer Duru, an affiliate chairman of the Association, in Atlanta for an impressive participation in the convention by more Mbaitolians at home and in the Diaspora.

He stated that the purpose of the convention is to create a forum to discuss issues peculiar to Mbaitoli, educate attendees on their culture and create more awareness on socio-economic issues that matter to the people of Mbaitoli in USA and at home in order to reinforce the ideals of community improvement, unity and progress within the Mbaitoli Community.

Among other things, he said the convention will seek the commitment of Mbaitolians, friends and groups as partners to help realize some vital community improvement programs for “our local government especially the Nwaorieubi Health Center at Mbaitoli headquarters.”

Mbaitoli USA Inc. is the cultural umbrella organization of all Mbaitoli people in the United States, with its inception dating back to May 10, 2008 as a chapter-based organization with representations from Mbaitoli associations within the United States of America.

According to Dimunah, the Organization also encourages direct individual registrations where there is no local affiliate, with commitment to the following objectives: Furthering cultural awareness, fostering community identity, Forging solidarity, and promoting development and empowerment of Mbaitoli indigenes both in the United States of America and Nigeria.

Mbaitoli Association of New hosted the second convention of the organization in New York two years ago, following the first such gathering which was hosted by Mbaitoli Association of New England (Ifakala) Boston, Massachusetts in 2011.

Dimunah called on all Mbaitoli people to come together as a unit with a view to shaping their collective destiny and interest.
