Heir-Apparent To Benin Throne Initiated Into Iwebo

BENIN CITY- On Tuesday October 6, 2015, witnessed a moment of historical reality and royal grandeur, with sonorous traditional songs, and a complimentary outpouring of affections and solidarity from the people for His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb.) Eheneden Erediauwa, Edaiken N’Uselu.

The occasion was the formal initiation of the Heir-Apparent to the Benin throne, His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb.) Eheneden Erediauwa, Edaiken N’Uselu, into the Royal Palace Chamber of Iwebo in conformity with the Benin custom. The event brought to the fore boundless dynamism rooted in the globally acclaimed rich heritage of Benin Kingdom.

Officiating at the colourful initiation ceremony spanning seven days, and observed within the confines and outside the Royal chambers of Iwebo, were the Iwebo group under the supervision of Chief Eribo, the functioning Head of Iwebo, in the absence of the Uwangue, Head of the Iwebo group.

Having successfully undergone the seven days intensive events, with its attendant elaborate rites, thousands of enthusiastic Edo and non-Edo people joined retinue of Palace Chiefs and functionaries to accompany the celebrant, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa from the Benin Royal Palace Courtyard in a very large crowd of procession to the official Royal abode of the Edaiken in the cynosure of all eyes.

Aside members of the Benin Royal family, there were some notable personalities in the procession with the Edaiken. They include Barrister Osarodion Ogie, Commissioner for Works, Edo State and Senator Ehigie Uzamere among others. -(Nigerian Observer)
