As Edo State prepares for gubernatorial election in 2016, indications have emerged that incumbent Governor Adams Oshiomhole would hand over power to another comrade.

The labor leader-turned Governor is said to have made it known to close associates that only a comrade would succeed him.

Edo State commissioner for Establishment & Special Duties, Comrade Didi Adodo gave the hints in an exclusive interview with Alltimepost.com Nigerian Bureau Chief last week, suggesting that those who want to reap where they did not sow should look elsewhere.

Comrade Adodo defined a comrade as someone who shares in your vision and not just anybody, adding: “he (Oshiomhole) has said that he will hand over to a Comrade. We believe that the people who have actually worked with Adams Oshiomhole are the people we can say can actually do this work.

“We believe that the people who keyed into his vision should be the people we should be looking at. It is not just that somebody will say I want to be Governor.”

Comrade Adodo questioned the audacity of those who are junketing for the number one job in the state: “What is your antecedent? What is your history? Adams Oshiomhole will ask at the end of the day.”

Oshiomhole’s definition of a Comrade, he stated, we don’t really know, “I believe he will tell us at the end of the day.”

“Never again will anybody say it is not possible both in Edo State and in Nigeria, when you have people being driven by vision.”

“What has happened in Edo State is the fact that Adams Oshiomhole entered into the political governance and showed that Edo State can work.”

When Adodo was questioned on the crisis rocking the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) he advised the party to swallow its pride by accepting the current situation at the Senate and Federal House of Representatives as a faith accompli, regretting that APC went to sleep immediately after the 2015 general elections.

“APC should just accept what has happened quietly and move forward. Similar thing took place with Tambuwal and the PDP accepted the situation, so that we don’t have to have a situation where APC continues to alienate these people while the crisis persists, and the situation where what the old PDP did to the new PDP will not arise.”

Comrade Adodo opined that APC should accept a faith accompli and then move on from there in order to stabilize the party and that it was too early in the day to start factionalizing the party, where there are so many urgent national issues to be attended to.

“APC should manage the crisis positively. After elections APC went to sleep only to wake up few days to the commencement of the National Assembly,” he recalled.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s election was one of the greatest things Nigerians have done for themselves, saying that in 30 days the President has been able to instill a lot of confidence in the system; corrupt politicians have been bringing some of their loots quietly without being harassed; military High Command has been moved to Maiduguri; all monies
have been directed to be paid into a single Federation Account.

He commended the president for stabilizing the system, even without Ministers adding: “I believe quite frankly that as we move forward the country will move forward.”
