Election In Orhionmwon Inconclusive, INEC Reschedules Poll

Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Barrister Mike Igini, has again described as inconclusive last Saturday rescheduled election in parts of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.

INEC ‘s position was made known by Barrister Mike Igini at the state headquarters of the electoral umpire in the state capital, Benin City on Monday while announcing a new date for the exercise in the affected area.

According to him, apart from reports of violent disruption of voting by suspected hirelings of some politicians in the affected area, there were also some polling units where election did not take place at all due to logistical problems.

A new date of Saturday April 28, 2015 has therefore been fixed for another voting exercise in the affected area.

An election conducted alongside the presidential poll on March 28 to choose a Senator for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency had earlier on been declared inconclusive by the Nigeria’s electoral body, following reports of irregularities.
